The first Impala appeared in the fall of 1957 as a 1958 model and was a great success. It was offered as a coupe and convertible, giving it a sporty look.
Significantly revised for the 2006 model year, the Chevrolet Impala gets new exterior and interior styling, and two new V6 engines with variable valve timing. The high-performance 2006 Impala SS features a 5.3l V8 with cylinder deactivation.
Standard features on all models include an 8-way power driver's seat with manual lumbar support, cruise control, in-dash CD-player, rear cupholders, and a service interval indicator. Passive safety is enhanced by standard side-impact curtain airbags on all versions, while anti-lock brakes remain only an option with lower equipment levels.
