Langkawi Island

Langkawi island welcomes visitors with the same beautiful beaches 200 years ago the British Captain Francis Light took over. This island is becoming an important tourist destination and a place where many tourist plan their next holiday. Langkawi is named an archipelago of 99 small and beautiful islands, those islands are considered a paradise because of the views and the tranquility and all of them are accesible by the tourists from the Langkawi international airport.

The 99 islands are located thirty kilometers from the coast of Kuala Perlis, near the border with Thailand. They say that these islands were a heaven for pirates centuries ago, and people still tell stories of myths and legends of ogres, giant birds, warriors and princesses, as well as battles and romances.

Palau Langkawi

The main island is popularly known as Pulau Langkawi. With almost 500 square kilometers, this island is the symbol of the progress and tourism in Malaysia. Stunning resorts, excellent roads, shopping centers and the new Langkawi international airport, attract tourists.

When you get to the island the first thing that stands out is the Dataran Lang, or what is the same, the Eagle Square. Its position and location, right next to the harbor where ferries leave for Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis, welcomes all visitors to the island.

Kuah, the main town of the island, is located in the Southeast. It is the starting point for access to nearby islands or any destination within  Malaysia.

About Langkawi

Its inhabitants are mainly engaged in fishing, but the city prospered fast towards tourism, and modern hotels and convention centers have taken over the island and the city center.

Idyllic beaches such as Pantai Kok, Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengar are located all over the west coast of the island. In Pantai Cenang, besides enjoying their two miles of beach, we can practice a wide variety of water sports, featuring canoing as the most popular sport practiced by tourists.

The new Kuala Lumpur International Airport is located 50 km south of the city and most European airlines offer flights to this idyllic destination.
