Brooklyn

Brooklyn is the most populated district in New York. It is located southwest of Long Island and owes its name to the people of the Netherlands Breukelen. Since 1883, with the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge (a symbol of the city) this district lives in the shadow of Manhattan. To the east and near the Brooklyn Bridge is the historic and quiet neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights, characterized also by offering some of the most spectacular views of Manhattan. To the north is Williamsburg, a trendy district in which different cultures coexist, art galleries, shops and home to many artists. In other neighborhoods like Midwood Flabush and is home to the world's largest community of Orthodox Jews outside Israel. DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is the neighborhood of the most modern and revolutionary artists attracted by low incomes.

Two major museums are in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Museum of Art is one of the largest in America with the Egyptian collections in the world. The Children's Museum was the first museum in the world dedicated to children.

Coney Island on the southern tip of Brooklyn, is the amusement park of the city with its famous Cyclone roller coaster.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, is undoubtedly the most exquisite botanical garden of the city, the Prospect Park, by the same designers of Central Park, and his small zoo, is the most visited park in Brooklyn and the New York Aquarium with its more than 300 marine species complete the list of the most symbolic places of this district.
