Manhattan (Mannahatta) or Island of the hills as indigenous vocabulary, measuring 21.5 km long and 3.7 wide and is the most important district of the five that make up the city. Manhattan is divided into three sectors:

Downtown and Lower Manhattan at the southern tip of the island, extending from Battery Park to 14th Street and is the oldest part of town. Above it rise the towers of the Financial District where the New York Stock Exchange or NYSE. This part of Manhattan is made up of districts or neighborhoods, each with its own personality as Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho, Tribeca and Greenwich Village. Manhattan car hire is the best option for those of you who want to visit the most hidden places and live the city itself!

Midtown or central part, extends from 14th Street to 59th and is the most touristy area of Manhattan and where they concentrate most of the symbols of New York. Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, UN, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal or Times Square, the Broadway theater district, are some of the most visited New York and located in this part of town. Unlike Lower Manhattan, the streets of Midtown are perfectly designed as a large grid. Getting lost in this part of town is somewhat difficult, since the streets are numbered from south to north and avenues from east to west. Fifth Avenue divides the city into two broad areas: East and West. Broadway is the only avenue that crosses the city diagonally.

Uptown is the northern part of Manhattan from 59th Street. Upper East Side is by far the richest neighborhood in New York, also known as Museum Mile in hosting some of the most important cultural institutions of the city, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum. In Upper West Side we have the American Museum of Natural History, Lincoln Center and the Cathedral St. John The Divine. Throughout the area north of Uptown Harlem is mostly occupied by people of African American origin. In East Harlem predominantly Hispanic, the so-called Spanish Harlem, occupied mostly by Puerto Ricans.
